A Little Can Go a Long Way
Know it’s time for something new? At a Western New York Works college, there’s a micro-credential made exactly for you.
Take just two to three courses to prep for that promotion, specialize your skills or enter an industry powering our region’s economy.
What Is a Micro-Credential?
A micro-credential is an intensive, short-term program focused on helping you acquire practical, immediately applicable skills for today’s workforce. Course content often reflects real-time industry developments or provides rapid, easily available professional training to address a persistent, concerning skills shortage, such as what our region experiences in healthcare and manufacturing.
Micro-credentials typically consist of two to three courses, which can be attended in person or online. A hands-on component, like a lab, simulation or internship, may be included to reinforce mastery of new concepts.
Requirements are usually fulfilled in one to two semesters. Credits earned can be stacked toward a certificate or degree program, opening the door toward further training.
